What is the Welcome Suica?

The Welcome Suica is a convenient e-money card designed for tourists traveling in Japan. With this card, there’s no need to purchase individual tickets—just tap your card at ticket gates, and the fare is automatically deducted. Not limited to JR East trains, the card works for subways, buses, and even shopping at locations displaying the A or B logo.

Features and Benefits

The Welcome Suica is valid for 28 days from the date of purchase and can be reloaded multiple times. Unlike regular Suica cards, it requires no deposit. Though refunds are not available, the card doubles as a great souvenir to take home.

It’s not just for transportation—use it for quick payments at vending machines, kiosks, and stores nationwide. The Touch & Go system ensures seamless entry through automatic ticket gates, making travel hassle-free.

The Welcome Suica can be purchased at the following locations:

  • JR EAST Travel Service Centers: Narita Airport Terminal 1 Station, Narita Airport Terminal 2・3 Station, Haneda Airport Terminal 3 Station, Tokyo, Shinagawa, Shibuya, Shinjuku, Ikebukuro, Ueno, Yokohama, Sendai
  • Welcome Suica vending machines: Narita Airport Terminal 1 Station, Narita Airport Terminal 2・3 Station, Haneda Airport Terminal 3 Station
  • JAPAN RAIL CAFÉ TOKYO

Note: Only one card per person can be purchased in principle.

Additional Information

Passes can now be registered on the Welcome Suica card, eliminating the need for paper tickets. However, ensure you carry the reference paper provided at purchase, as it contains the card’s validity period and pass details. This paper must be shown to JR employees if requested.
